When I was little,I didn't fully appreciate the sport;I preferred basketball. It wasn't until had the great opportunity to live in Ireland, where there soccer was and is the national sport. Everyone and I mean everyone played or watched. We played during school, After school with the neighborhood kids and watched our district teams play. If the district teams won, then we would get out of school for it.
My first three weeks we were living there, I was out playing soccer with some friends like usual, until all the sudden I was airborne. Landing face first and hands first into the ground I had inadvertently broken and sprained all of my fingers. If you think health care in the united states is bad, try living in a foreign country and then you'll be grateful for the hospitals and health care we have here. I ended up going to school my first week not being able to write or take notes, and without a cast.
I think I decided then to leave soccer to the professionals.
